SUMMARY:CSB Summer Reading
DESCRIPTION:In an attempt to provide balance between leisure time and maintaining skills and the habit of reading, we are not requiring a specific title or a specific number of books that students must read over the summer break. Helen Huber, CSB Librarian, has prepared an extensive list of recommended books for summer reading (see below). While there are no required projects or assignments, students may be asked to discuss, write or respond creatively to something read over the summer when they return to school in September.

Summer Reading is a leisure experience that leads to a lifetime of engagement, enrichment and learning. We highly encourage everyone in your family to make reading part of a daily routine. As in past years, the Summer Reading List is offered in two formats.

Books can be viewed as a PDF list of individual titles organized by Chapter, Picture, and Nonfiction books.

You may also view and purchase the books in the CSB Amazon Store where summaries and reviews for each title are offered. CSB receives a percentage of everything sold on the CSB Amazon site.

The titles in this year's list are recommendations, but CSB students are encouraged to choose any appropriate books that meet their interests and abilities.

A note on book acquisition: Although the CSB Library is closed during the summer, many of these titles are available at your local public library.

If you choose to shop locally, please support your local independent bookseller. Of course, sharing/borrowing books is always encouraged. Have a wonderful summer filled with action, adventure, exploration and plenty of reading!
