Each year, Cathedral School for Boys supports Bayview Mission through an all-school service learning program. This year’s all-school fundraiser, the Be Fit Challenge, is designed to encourage each CSB boy to be fit and active in conjunction with gathering sponsors.

During the month of November, big and little brothers will have the opportunity to jump rope and shoot hoops together twice in P.E. and challenge their personal best from their first to second tries. At home, boys can get their heart rates up by playing outside, participating in a team sport, walking their dogs, going to the park, bike riding, and moving!

Sponsors may choose to donate in 10 minute fitness intervals or through a straight donation. Students should make sure that sponsors are people who are close to their families (not by going door to door).

This challenge is about setting personal goals, every boy participating at his own level of fitness, fostering big/little brother relationships, and each boy having an understanding that the money he raises will directly benefit Bayview Mission.

Every penny raised will go toward the purchase of essential items such as soap, socks, detergent, and towels for the more than 500 bags the boys will pack at school on December 17. Any leftover funds will be donated directly to Bayview Mission.

This is a fundraiser to be fit and befit for Bayview Mission. The Be Fit Challenge will run from November 3 - November 30. Boys are asked to collect and return funds to the school's front desk byDecember 5.

Bayview Mission is an outreach program supporting the Bayview-Hunter's Point community in San Francisco. Founded in 2004 by The Rev. Nina Pickerell of Grace Cathedral, Bayview Mission extends a variety of resources to the neighborhood, including a critically needed food pantry distributing grocery items to local families.

Please consider these ways to get involved:

• We depend on the generosity of local businesses. Should you have a contact for any of the essential items - soap, detergent, socks, towels, toilet paper - please get in touch with Christina DunningJennifer Hocking, or Erin Steere.

• The Boys for Bayview Mission Holiday Bag Packing event will take place on Wednesday, December 17 at CSB. Last year, boys packed more than 500 bags and numbers are expected to stay the same for 2014.

• All of our boys’ efforts will culminate in a holiday party to be held at Bayview Mission on Saturday, December 20 where bags will be distributed along with a meal and other holiday treats.

Questions? Contact Christina DunningJennifer Hocking, or Erin Steere.
