Through our service learning program at Cathedral School for Boys, we support The Bayview Mission. The Bayview Mission is an outreach program supporting the Bayview-Hunt
er’s Point community in San Francisco. It was founded in 2004 by Rev. Nina Pickerell of Grace Cathedral and extends a variety of essential resources to the neighborhood, including a critically needed food pantry distributing grocery items to local families.

Starting
in calendar year 2008/2009 and now a tradition at Cathedral, all students at Cathedral School for Boys participate in a readathon to raise mon
ey to support The Bayview Mission through the “Bags for Bayview Mission” event. CSB students will pack holiday bags for babies, children, adults and seniors to be distributed at The Bayview Mission Holiday Party. These bags are filled with necessities and staples that will help families through the holiday season, along with a few surprises to keep the holiday spirit alive. Funds raised through the readathon and in-kind donations collected from Bay Area businesses will help ensure that we can provide over 525 bags filled with essential items for families. By supporting our students in this effort, we will not only be helping families in need for the holiday season, but also teaching our students the value and importance of service and giving to their local communities

We are a diverse community, respectful of and welcoming to all people and we believe that the best way to instill civic and social responsibility is to model this behavior for our current generation of students.  We are a community bonded by open-heartedness, hope, compassion an
d concern, and we strive to provide exemplary programs of outreach and service as part of our program.
