    Optional Sexuality Education Workshop for Grade 5 Students & Parents

    • Workshop Description: Through a variety of dynamic activities, including trivia, role play, and facilitated discussion, Grade 5 parents and students will experience “the talk” as an ongoing, supportive, and fun learning experience. “Let's Keep Talking” tackles head-on the tendency for adolescents to avoid sensitive conversations with their parents.

    Parenting for Prevention

    Optional April 23 Adolescent Substance Use Education Workshop for All Parents:
    • Description: Following an overview of our student curriculum, a Well Beyond Academics team member will present parenting strategies for building resiliency and supporting healthy decision-making in pre/teens. We will address ways to initiate conversations around expectations / substance use with children, when and how to disclose personal past and current substance use with your children, and how to connect and collaborate with other parents in the community to best support your children as they navigate the intersection between well-being, socializing, and substance use.

    “Beyond K(NO)Wing”

    Optional April 30 “Beyond K(NO)Wing” Education Workshop for Grade 7 & 8 Parents & Students:
    • Description: This event will facilitate an open, safe space for discussion of sensitive, personal topics between children and their trusted adults, setting the stage for future communication around substance use and beyond. Our interactive games and discussion foster empathy and understanding between parents / guardians and students that we hope will continue to grow far beyond our time together.
