Heads Up Blog: The Value of Reading for Pleasure!

In this week's Heads Up Blog, Headmaster Jones discusses reading at Cathedral and offers a great piece on the importance of reading for pleasure.
My remarks to the boys and families during Opening Day Chapel included the acknowledgment of how proud I am that our school recognizes the value of reading for pleasure!  We are a community of readers, and we are better because of it.  In fact, our approach in the elementary school includes nightly reading guidelines to parents. Our hope is that all elementary boys are reading or being read to each night.

Many of you have forwarded me this editorial from The New York Times about reading and the motivations for it. I thought it was worth sharing.

Enjoy!
