We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the Fulfilling the Strategic Vision Campaign, a historic $21 million effort that has transformed our School and positioned us to excel well into the 21st century.
This campaign was the result of our Strategic Plan 2017-22, which was the product of a year of work by a dedicated committee. The Plan and its bold vision for Cathedral's future was unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees in 2017. The Strategic Plan centered on three major themes:

  • Maintaining our leadership in boys' education so that we prepare boys for success in high school and in an increasingly complicated world;
  • Fostering a community that attracts and supports talented educators and staff and that remains accessible to all qualified students
  • Improving the use of learning space to support innovative educational approaches that prepare our students for success and leadership in the world.
    • The new 5th & 6th Grade Science Lab

Completion of the campaign in January 2022 coincided with the opening of our new Learning Commons areas, built on top of the former Veazie Court and Terrace. These rooms off of the Lower and Upper School classrooms provide much-needed flexible spaces for students and faculty to study, collaborate, meet, and gather. This campus addition marks the end of the final phase of the execution of our most recent Strategic Plan, which also included:

  • A total renovation of nearly all of the School's existing classrooms (including the creation of a state-of-the-art Upper School science suite);
  • The implementation of a Co-Lead teaching model in the Lower School;
  • The establishment of an endowed master teaching chair to support teaching excellence;
  • The enhancement of staff salary and benefits to attract and maintain the finest professional staff;
  • An increase in student diversity to nearly 50% of our student body;
  • The launch of a scholarship program designed to attract high-achieving, underrepresented students to our middle school.
    • A Plaza view of the School, with the new addition between the Cathedral and the existing School building.

This was truly a full community effort, with contributions from parents, trustees, alumni, faculty and staff, grandparents, and friends of the School. Thank you to everyone for your support and for ensuring that Cathedral School continues to provide an incomparable education for our students.
This project has transformed our School. Our boys will benefit from classrooms that better support the modern instructional approaches that are used by our faculty. Our teachers will benefit from additional space to support group and project-based work. Furthermore, our community will benefit from a carefully-designed addition that will reflect the welcoming, open place we know Cathedral to be.
