Cathedral School seeks to enroll boys who will benefit from our program, and will contribute to our community life through their interactions with others, and their integrity and sense of responsibility. We seek boys of strong character, who are excited to learn, are curious about the world around them, are not afraid to take risks, will lean into difficult conversations, and never stop growing.
The School assesses all applicants to ensure that we are setting each boy up for academic success. This is based not only on academic aptitude, but also attitude. We seek boys who are eager to learn and work respectfully and collaboratively with their peers and teachers alike. In making admissions decisions, Cathedral School gives special consideration to siblings of boys currently enrolled at the school, as well as the sons of legacy families and faculty members. We endeavor to create a student body that is racially, ethnically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse, and represents a full-range of family structures and religions. We do not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, sexual orientation, religion, ability, or national or ethnic origin.
It is the earnest desire of the entire Cathedral community that no boy who is qualified for admission should be denied the opportunity of attendance solely because of inability to pay the full tuition fees. Cathedral School for Boys’ Adjustable Tuition program, which is funded to a large degree by the School's endowment, exists so that we can maintain a socio-economically diverse student body.
Cathedral School is proud to announce our new Community Scholars Program, through which the School strives to attract socio-economically diverse students of “high academic potential” in the fifth or sixth grade within the Bay Area. Interest in Cathedral's Adjustable Tuition program has no influence on the consideration of an application to the School. The same standards and criteria apply to all candidates who apply for Adjustable Tuition.
