  • Director of Development

    Role Title: Director of Development
    FLSA Status: Exempt
    Reports to: Chief Advancement Officer
    Direct Reports: Assistant Director of Annual Giving & Community Engagement; Development Systems & Events Coordinator
     
    Main Purpose of the Role: The Director of Development works closely with the Head of School and the Board of Trustees and supervises a small team to provide leadership for the Development program as it builds a strong culture of philanthropy throughout the school and global community. The goal of the Director of Development is to design programs of giving that attract the maximum gift support possible to the institution. The Director of Development serves as a member of the senior administrative team and reports directly to the Head of School.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
     
    • Establishes and executes forward-thinking development / advancement and strategic programs that optimally grow the annual, major, and capital campaigns, legacy gifts, and planned giving;
    • Oversees all aspects of the Development program, including fundraising, leading the annual giving program, guiding the capital campaign, soliciting corporate and foundation proposals, creating a strong alumni association, and managing special Development events;
    • Identifies, researches, and spearheads the implementation of a diverse and multifaceted fundraising program to support the school’s strategic vision, cultivating a culture of giving and gratitude across all constituencies and socio-economic strata;
    • Collaborate with enrollment management on PR initiatives and the marketing and communications office to create / produce fundraising-related communication materials to expand and enhance the school’s visibility and reputation;
    • Identifies corporate and foundation funding opportunities and helps draft grant applications;
    • Strengthens relationships with the school’s alumni and further develops alumni programming;
    • Develops a major donor solicitation plan and personally solicits major donors;
    • Enhances existing relationships while building new relationships, systems, and programs that further tap into the generosity and resources of the community;
    • Maintains a database of all contributors and provides development reports as required;
    • Manages the Development budget;
    • Supervises, nurtures, and develops the Development team;
    • Coordinates the school’s volunteerism efforts and acts as a Parent Association liaison;
    • Nurtures and maintains a highly collaborative relationship with the Head of School, the Board Chair, and individual board members, supporting them in all their fundraising responsibilities, and accompanying them on donor visits when appropriate.

    Compensation: Cathedral School for Boys offers a competitive Director of Development salary ranging $150,000–$180,000, depending upon experience. Additionally, Cathedral School for Boys consistently offers one of the most robust systems of benefits among independent schools in the Bay Area.

  • Director of Extended Day Programming & Communications Support

    Role Title: Director of Extended Day Programming (EDP) & Communications Support
    FLSA Status: Full-time Salaried Exempt
    Reports To: Chief Finance and Operations Officer
    Direct Reports: EDP Supervisory Staff
     
    Main Purpose of the Role: The Director of EDP & Communications Support is responsible for developing and managing the Extended Day Program, supervising students, responding to student needs and interests, managing EDP staff, and building and maintaining relationships with the community. Additionally, this position provides support to the Director of Communications & Marketing, as needed. This is a full-time, 12-month position with oversight of morning care, enrichment class programming, camps, facility rentals, and social media.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
     
    • Overtly support and act in accordance with the school’s mission and values;
    • Maintain a safe yet fun environment for boys beyond the classroom; spend time outside on the roof play yard and in the gym, enjoy snacks and activities, and work on classroom assignments;
    • Attract, schedule, and manage Enrichment program vendors, family sign-up, and communication;
    • Assist in building and managing the EDP annual budget;
    • Develop our summer program and grow facility rental opportunities;
    • In partnership with the Director of Communications & Marketing, develop and execute the school’s social media strategy;
    • Hiring, scheduling, and timekeeping for EDP staff;
    • Organize and lead parent-teacher conference childcare coverage and special evening or school break childcare events;
    • Procure supplies and snacks;
    • Provide communications, special-projects support, and school-level support as needed.

    Compensation: Cathedral School for Boys uses a competitive Director of EDP & Communications Support salary scale that is based on education and years of experience, ranging from $85,000–$115,000.

  • Extended Day Program Staff / Afterschool Teacher

    Role Title: Extended Day Program (EDP) Staff / Afterschool Teacher
    FLSA Status: Part-time Non-exempt
    Reports to: Extended Day Programming Coordinator
    Direct Reports: N/A
     
    Main Purpose of the Role: The EDP Staff / Afterschool Teacher is responsible for developing and leading engaging afterschool activities, including both indoor and outdoor activities, snack time, and homework assistance; supervising students and responding to their needs and interests; and coordinating parent pick-up. This is a part-time, hourly position with shifts varying between 2:00–6:00pm, Monday–Friday, with summer months, holidays, and school breaks off.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
     
    • Overtly support and act in accordance with the school’s mission and values;
    • Maintain a safe yet fun environment for boys beyond the classroom; spend time outside on the roof play yard and in the gym, enjoy snacks and activities, and work on classroom assignments;
    • Manage program transitions and student pick-up;
    • Provide a safe physical and emotional environment for all students, encouraging the boys to take initiative to solve problems and helping them investigate, ask questions, and have fun;
    • Communicate with families.

  • On-Call Substitute Teacher

    Role Title: On-Call Substitute Teacher
    FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-exempt
    Reports to: Division Director
    Direct Reports: N/A
     
    Main Purpose of the Role: Substitute teachers provide classroom support in grades K–4 and lead subject-specific classes for grades 5–8. Substitute teachers will also perform school-related duties including lunch and recess supervision.

    Key Responsibilities:
     
    • Actively engage with students in classroom activities;
    • Use effective classroom management strategies;
    • Implement lesson plans when applicable;
    • Supervise students at recess and lunch;
    • Use technology as needed;
    • Maintain the tidiness of the classroom.

    Compensation and Benefits: Cathedral uses a daily rate of $240 for substitute teachers.
