At Cathedral School, we know boys. We know that educating boys means attending to every part of their development. As such, we are experts in understanding what helps each boy laugh, learn, collaborate, play, think, and reflect.
A Cathedral School education means that boys are challenged to think critically and to engage actively. Learning is not a stagnant process at Cathedral. Boys learn best when they are learning by doing, and, as a result, our classrooms, labs, rooftop field, music rooms, gym, drama space, and learning commons are lively centers of engagement and curiosity — and activity!
While boys are here, their Minds, Hearts, Hands, and Voices are nurtured at every stage of their development because we believe in preparing boys not only to be successful thinkers and learners but — and perhaps more importantly — to be compassionate and caring leaders for tomorrow as well.

Why a school for boys?
We understand boys. We know that there are many ways to be a boy, and we approach each boy individually. We appreciate that each boy learns differently and at his own pace.

Why a small school?
Cathedral School for Boys has deliberately remained a small school. With the intimacy of a small school of 264 boys, we are able to know each boy well.

Why uniforms?
Everyone wears the same clothing, not out of nostalgia but out of the belief that our dress code demonstrates a sense of purpose and diminishes displays of socio-economic status that run counter to our philosophy.

The Episcopal approach provides experiences that offer students an understanding of religion and faith, in addition to a lens through which to view the world.

Located in San Francisco, California, Cathedral School for Boys is an independent elementary school for boys in Kindergarten – Grade 8.
