Learn all about Dana Marini in this week's Staff Spotlight.
Name:
Dana Marini

Position:
Third-grade Co-Teacher

Where did you go to elementary school:
I grew up in a small town in Illinois about 100 miles south of Chicago. I attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School. I also spent a short period of my elementary school days in the Mile High City, Denver, Colorado.

What is your favorite book:
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein is one of my all-time favorite books. Ever since my childhood, this heartfelt fable about life has spoken to me of what it means to be “living from the heart.” A classic that will tug on your heartstrings!

What do you do for fun:
There are so many things I like to do for fun. Just to name a few, I love taking long bike trips, hiking in the mountains, camping, practicing yoga, reading an inspiring book, and tossing the Frisbee on a beautiful day. I also enjoy playing the drums, strumming the guitar, and singing songs. I definitely have fun going to see live music, visiting different museums around the city, and tending to my hummingbird sanctuary at home. In one month you will find me cheering on my World Champion Chicago Cubs. Let’s go Cubbies!

What kind of music do you like:
I like listening to ALL types of music. What I listen to really depends on my mood. I enjoy discovering new artists as well as revisiting some of the classics. There is so much interesting and amazing stuff being created in the Bay Area and around the world. I’m a huge fan of the local group, Uncle Riffkin. Check them out if you have not heard their music. I’m told it’s all about three chords and the truth.

What is your favorite dessert:
Baby coconuts are my favorite dessert. I enjoy the whole process involved in eating them. I love cutting them open, sipping the tasty water with a straw, and spooning out the delicious coconut meat. Yum!

How long have you worked at CSB:
I have worked at CSB since 2011. I spent my first year working with Ms. O’Brien in second grade. Those second-grade boys are now in seventh grade. Wow, the time sure does fly! I also worked with Mrs. Jeurgens in Kindergarten for three years, and currently, this is my second year in third grade with Mr. Kerman.

What do you love the most about CSB:
I love the CSB community. It’s home to so many wonderful human beings. I truly appreciate working with the many talented, intelligent, creative, and caring individuals that I am fortunate to call my friends. I also appreciate spending my days with my students—they make me smile. And a special thanks to all the wonderful families that I have come to know over the years.
