Graduates from Cathedral matriculate to excellent independent day, boarding, Private Catholic, and public high schools in the Bay Area and beyond. Cathedral’s objective is to find an excellent match where each Cathedral graduate will be challenged, grow and thrive. Our graduates and their families report that they are well prepared both academically and socially for the rigors of high school.
The application process is demanding, but Cathedral supports families and boys through it. For students, the high school process begins with their diligent effort, working to their full potential both in and out of the classroom. In their 8th grade year, Cathedral offers a High School Counseling course that covers school visits, interviewing, an overview of application writing and decision-making. We also spend time talking about stress management.
For families, the process begins at the end of the 7th grade with an information session followed by a Summer Family High School meeting with the High School Counselor. Tuesday High School Counseling Updates help families prioritize responsibilities and manage the process with philosophical and practical aspects of the process.
As the boys ready themselves for the challenges of high school, we are mindful not to lose sight of the greater 8th-grade experience. They still have much to learn and room to grow. It is their final year with us, and we don’t want to miss a moment.
