The timeless CSB tradition is just around the corner. Mark your calendar and read on for important details.
Fall at CSB concludes with the celebration of the Festival of Lessons and Carols. This is the most joyous and participatory chapel of the entire school year. This year's Lessons and Carols service will take place on Thursday, December 18 at 9:30 a.m.
Patterned after the Christmas Day service at King's College, Cambridge, it is a festive collection of lessons from scripture read by Upper School boys and musical offerings from every class in the school as well as the choir. These musical offerings include handbells, anthems, and spirituals, along with the traditional music of Christmas. The service concludes with a special performance of We Three Kings featuring solos by The Rt. Rev. Marc Handley Andrus, the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of California; CSB's Chaplain, The Rev. Mehrdad Abidari; and CSB Headmaster Michael Ferreboeuf. Plus you don't want to miss a rousing rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas, sung in parts and performed by each CSB class.
Boys should arrive in full dress at 9 a.m. on Jones Street and report directly to their classrooms. Acolytes and ushers must arrive at the Cathedral at 9 a.m. All parents and visitors should go directly to Grace Cathedral as the program begins there at 9:30 a.m.
The entire school community is encouraged and welcome to join us for the Festival of Lessons and Carols. It is a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas break and close out the first half of the school year. We hope to see you there!
