Families exploring kindergarten options in San Francisco are invited to join us at Cathedral School for Boys for our Kindergarten Spring Preview, an opportunity to experience how our teachers support boys at one of the most important stages of their development.
 
Cathedral School for Boys is a K–8 independent boys’ school in San Francisco. Our Kindergarten Spring Preview allows families to explore our program and learn how we educate boys during their earliest school years.
 
At Cathedral School for Boys, we know boys. Educating boys means attending to every part of who they are as learners and people. Our teachers understand what helps boys laugh, learn, collaborate, play, think, and reflect — and how those experiences shape confident and curious young students.
 
A Cathedral School education challenges boys to think critically and engage actively. Learning is not a passive process here. Whether in classrooms, labs, the rooftop field, music rooms, gym, drama space, or learning commons, our campus is alive with curiosity, conversation, and discovery.
 
Throughout their time at Cathedral School, boys’ Minds, Hearts, Hands, and Voices are nurtured with care and intention. Our goal is not only to help boys become strong thinkers and learners, but also compassionate young leaders who understand their responsibility to others.
 
Many families attend this event one or two years before applying so they can begin exploring schools and learning what matters most for their son’s early education.

    We understand boys. We know that there are many ways to be a boy, and we approach each boy individually. We appreciate that each boy learns differently and at his own pace.
  • Why a small school? Why a small school?
    Cathedral School for Boys has deliberately remained a small school. With the intimacy of a small school of 264 boys, we are able to know each boy well.
  • Why uniforms? Why uniforms?
    Everyone wears the same clothing, not out of nostalgia but out of the belief that our dress code demonstrates a sense of purpose and diminishes displays of socio-economic status that run counter to our philosophy.

    The Episcopal approach provides experiences that offer students an understanding of religion and faith, in addition to a lens through which to view the world.

Located in San Francisco, California, Cathedral School for Boys is an independent elementary school for boys in Kindergarten – Grade 8.
